The Past Doesn’t Always Predict the Future

It’s been said history repeats itself and that the past predicts the future. We’ve been conditioned to think that way.

But do you really want your past to repeat itself?

I don’t. Well, not some of it anyway.

Other than the fact we’ve been conditioned to think the past predicts the future, why do we do that?

We Want to Feel Safe

Because we want to feel safe. A lot of people have the same routine every day. They eat the same thing, they drive the same way to work, they buy the same brand of car. It’s not just about preference, it’s about feeling safe. When there isn’t much change or variety, some people feel safer. Because it’s always been that way, it will always be that way is their way of thinking. They like it. It’s predictable. They know what will happen.

Another way we feel safe is we think we can rely on the past to guide us. If things don’t change, then we feel safe. Even if it’s negative things, we know we can count on them to repeat. I’m not talking about learning from our past mistakes to create a better future. That’s perfectly fine.

It gets to be a problem when we base our future outcome on our past behavior or situations in the negative sense. Thinking you have always had good luck so this will work out too is actually a great attitude.

We rationalize that it’s always been this way so why would it change now?  “It didn’t work out in the past, so why would it work out now?” “I always meet losers so why date, I’ll just meet another one.” “Every job I have (fill in the blank), this happens.” Any of those sound familiar? I’m sure together we could come up with a bunch more.

Thinking the past predicts the future is actually a common manifesting mistake. We think we can’t manifest something because we never have before. Or when we tried, we failed, so we’ll fail again.

Only if you want to.

It’s a Habit

Most of the time we don’t realize we’re doing this; it’s a habit. The more we think this way, the more the past repeats itself. If you want something to change in your life you have to do something different, right? The same applies to manifesting. If you tried to manifest something in the past and it didn’t happen, you have to do something different.

When you wanted to meet a new partner and didn’t, did you think you’ll never meet one because you never do or you always mess up relationships or something to that effect? If yes, you were basing your future luck on past situations. Do you want to meet a partner? Or get a new car or a dream job etc.? Then you have to stop basing what can happen on what did happen.

Leave the Past in the Past

The past is the past and it needs to stay that way. I love history and I can read past lives. Other than that, I do my best to stay out of the past. It doesn’t benefit us to re-live the past or use it as a prediction for future failure.

While we may not have crystal balls, we can all be our own psychic. When a psychic is reading for you, they are picking up the energy of the most likely outcome. As I’ve mentioned before, if you make a different choice, that outcome can change. If a psychic predicts you’ll meet someone at a party and you don’t go to the party, then you probably won’t meet them. If they see you flying off to some exotic vacation and then you choose not to go, well, then, you’re not going.

What I’m getting at here is the future is up to you. You create it every minute, every day. For some people the “force is strong” as they say. When I read for them, I get a very strong yes that something will (or won’t) occur. I know that for two reasons. One is because as a psychic I can see the future. And two, if someone really wants something to happen, they will make it happen. That’s manifesting. If you want something, you make it happen. Whether that means going house hunting to find the perfect house or visualizing the perfect partner or job coming into your life. How much you want something factors into your manifesting efforts as well.

For some the “force” isn’t as strong. I might get a weak yes that something they want will happen for them. Why it’s weak could be any reason with the biggest one being they don’t really believe they can get it. Those are the people that will be back again for another reading wanting to find out why it didn’t happen or if it will still happen.

The point is, if you really want something, don’t sit around waiting for it, don’t rely on a psychic to predict it for you. Make it happen. Manifest it. But don’t use the past as a guideline for whether you can get it or not.

Just because you messed up a relationship or got fired from a job doesn’t mean it will happen every time. That’s getting into absolutes such as “always” and “never” which rarely are true. As a rule of thumb, always and never statements are always false and never true. Apply that to your past. Even if it’s true you always messed up your job or your relationships, do you want to continue doing that? I doubt it. So, what do you do instead? You adopt a new behavior. You change it.

How Do I Change It?

Part of your new behavior needs to be thinking differently. Remind yourself because it happened in the past and you don’t want to repeat it, it doesn’t have to happen in the future. Write that one down. Keep it on your phone. Do what you have to do, just remember that.

Start paying attention to what you think and say and you’ll be able to nip this in the bud.  If you like to keep records, make a tic mark every time you think past proves future. If that’s too much effort (it would be for me), just make a mental note every time you do it. Don’t stress out, don’t beat yourself up, just know you don’t want to keep thinking that way. And move on.

If you really don’t want to repeat your “mistakes,” get your head out of your past!
