When you’re having a bad day and need to feel stronger or stand up for yourself, put on your Wonder Woman gear! (in your head, of course!) Who doesn’t want to feel strong like Wonder Woman with those gold, shiny cuffs she wears? I mean, c’mon, they look pretty cool! She looks like a bad a**! When you’re feeling down or weak or stepped on, switching your thoughts to feel like an empowered, feminine bad a** is not such a bad idea! Whatever it takes to change so you can step up and feel and be stronger.
Who’s Gonna Know You’re Wonder Woman?
Visualization is a very powerful, sometimes underrated tool. Our mind doesn’t know the difference between real and imagined, so why not imagine you’re powerful if you aren’t feeling it? It can help trick your mind into thinking and feeling empowered. It’s like the old saying, “Fake it til you make it.” Part of your faking it tool box can include the visualization of Wonder Woman. It doesn’t have to be Wonder Woman, BTW. Any image, even yourself, that helps you feel stronger is fine. I just like the image of Wonder Woman as a powerful woman and we all pretty much know what she looks like. Her image works for the purposes of this article.
Beyonce has admitted to help combat her stage fright, she has an alter ego she calls “Sasha Fierce” that enables her to feel strong. Whether you’re a Beyonce fan or not is not the point. The point is even someone as well known as her has a big fear (I don’t envy her having to perform live in front of thousands of people!) and she’s figured out a way to help her deal with it. If she can invoke an image to combat her fears, so can you.
When someone is berating you and you feel weak and just sit there and “take it,” instead put on your Wonder Woman gear in your head and stand up for yourself. If someone is trying to take advantage of you, don’t be the door mat. Be your own Wonder Woman. If you’ve done too much people pleasing and your Wonder Woman is feeling worn out, give her a rest, rejuvenate her, then bring her back stronger than ever. Even Wonder Woman needs to re-charge!
Most men don’t have trouble standing up for themselves or being empowered, but if you are a man and are reading this, invoke Captain America or any other Super Hero or image that works for you. As I said, it doesn’t really matter what image you choose so long as you feel empowered. That’s the goal.
If we’re constantly not standing up for ourselves it becomes a habit. Habits can be hard to break. It takes time to create a new one. While you’re creating a new habit of standing up for yourself, use Wonder Woman to help you get there. She never fails you. Use her “super human” powers to help you accomplish things you wouldn’t normally do like say “no” when you don’t want to do something or stand up to that bully at work or at home.
Ladies (or gents), this can be our little secret that Wonder Woman is alive and well in your head when you need her! I won’t tell a soul, I promise. She’s an image of a strong, powerful woman so summon her when you need to!
