Heal Thyself

Do you suffer from chronic pain? A debilitating ailment such as fibromyalgia? Migraines? Allergies?

It’d be nice to feel good, right?

When we don’t feel good, life stinks. We get cranky or irritable and can’t do what we’d like to do. Not getting done what we want to do can make us more irritable. And round and round the cycle goes.

When we feel good, life is good.

When our body feels good it frees up our mind. We feel energized, alive, creative. When our body doesn’t feel good our mind can get stuck focusing on how bad we feel. Then what happens? The more you focus on how bad you feel, the more you continue to feel bad with no end in sight.

The “trick” in manifesting is to be what it is that you want. If you want to be healthy, then you have to tell your mind that you’re healthy. When you’re sick or in pain that isn’t so easy. Affirmations such as, “I’m in perfect health” will have your mind denying it when you’re sick. It’s not easy to fool the mind into thinking it’s something it’s not. It’s especially hard to fool the mind when you really don’t feel good because the evidence is right before your eyes.

How do you feel better, then?

Heal Thyself

In addition to taking your meds or supplements, having treatment, physical therapy etc., work on healing yourself.

Jesus said in the Bible, “heal thyself.” He told us that we have the ability to heal ourselves. We just don’t think we do.

The operative word there is “think.” Whether you believe in Jesus or the Bible isn’t the point. We’ve been taught this formula: feel bad, take a pill. Feel sick, go to the doctor. We don’t stop to think that we can take care of this ourselves because it’s part of our conditioning that we cannot.

Just as manifesting is the big secret, so is healing ourselves, which is a form of manifesting.

If healers can heal us, why can’t we heal ourselves?

We can.

This post is not intended to put healers out of business. Healers serve a great purpose. They can accelerate our healing process, enhance our own healing practice and teach our body how to heal without using add-ons like meds or supplements.

Healing Success Stories

We most definitely can heal ourselves. There are some amazing stories about people who have healed themselves that you’ve probably read. Not minor things like a kitchen burn but big things like cancer or injuries from a major accident. It is possible.

How?

Like with anything else we want to manifest we have to believe that we can do it. NO doubt. I can’t convince you and neither can your best friend. You have to believe it. Personally, I’ve believed it for many years. I’ve just convinced myself that I haven’t known how to do it. But I do. And so do you. We all have the innate ability to heal ourselves. Every one of us. No one is more special here. If you’re human, you can do it. Most major religions and cultures have some type of self-healing premise. This isn’t exclusive to Christians.

Sure, you can google healing techniques and get some pointers. There are many, many techniques available. Everything from sound healing, breath work, color therapy, energy manipulation etc. How do you know which one to choose? Will it work?

First off, I believe they all work. It’s a matter of choosing the right one for you at this time. Over the years I’ve tried many different techniques, sometimes on my own, sometimes with a practitioner. None of them worked, at least not outwardly. It’s not because the practitioner or technique wasn’t good. There can be many reasons why a technique doesn’t work so it’s hard to know why one doesn’t work at one time.

The Root Cause of All Illness

One of the reasons a healing technique may not seem to work is because of this:

“Illness or pain is just an extension of negative emotion. When you are no longer feeling any resistance to it, it’s a non-issue.” – from Law of Attraction

All illnesses, diseases, ailments start in the energetic, emotional and mental realms, then trickle down into the physical. Once the issue has hit the physical realm, you are sick or experiencing some kind of physical symptoms. Now you can see why healing is complex and takes time. You have to get to the root of the emotions. There are many layers.

For some of you, that idea may be hard to believe. If you know of or are a fan of Louise Hay of You Can Heal Your Life fame, then you know what I’m talking about.

If you’re not aware, Louse Hay wrote a book called You Can Heal Your Life. In it she lists common ailments along with their emotional or mental cause. To heal yourself she provides affirmations specific to the ailment. The theory is that by working with the affirmations you can clear out the illness.

Why affirmations? It’s your thinking that got you into this physical situation. You may not be actively saying to yourself that you’re afraid to get cancer. You don’t have to say that to yourself to manifest the “c” word or any other disease. You just have to be thinking negative things often. The occasional or even semi-occasional negative thought won’t hurt you. It’s the chronic negative thinking that gets us in the end.

If you’re a chronic negative thinker, please don’t panic. In my opinion it’s not as simple if you think negative thoughts often then you’re going to get some awful disease or condition. My family has been long-term negative thinkers and we have had good health and longevity. There are other factors at play but your thinking is very important.

Diseases vibrate at specific frequencies that correlate with the frequency of certain words or thoughts. I just channeled that statement as I wrote it. Thus, thinking specific thoughts will cause a specific disease. Which is why Louise Hay may have correlated kidney disease with despair or lack of hope. That’s just an example, I don’t have her book in front of me. To continue the example, if despair is the cause of kidney problems, even a kidney infection, then working with affirmations that are the opposite of despair should correct the situation. That’s the premise of her work.

Bottom line, then is, you can work with affirmations that correlate to your ailment as part of your healing process. Complement affirmations with some type of healing work.

What I’ve found helps is to do my own work combined with a healing professional. What I’ve been working on is letting go of old emotional issues vs focusing on a specific physical problem. If you clear out the negative emotions, the physical goes away. If you stop thinking negatively, the physical goes away. Therefore, it makes more sense to me to focus on releasing the emotions in my healing sessions vs just asking for help to remove the physical issues.

Have my physical issues gone away? No. It took years for them to show up in my body so they won’t go away overnight. I don’t believe it will take years to get rid of them, but it will take more than a few sessions.  For that reason, I do my own work in addition to working with a healer. It speeds up the process and empowers me to heal myself.  It puts the power back into my hands vs entirely relying on someone else to do it for me.

If I can heal my body, so can you! Next week I’ll do a blog post on healing tips. In the meantime, Heal On!
